Something I wrote

A melancholy signal rolls off the waving hills and streams into my ears
Investigation leads me to an ensemble of sounds
With nothing in view but the familiar scenery
And only able to feel the pulsating air and swirling sounds around me
I close my eyes and listen

The whispering melody feels like a refreshing breeze across my cheeks and down my neck
The beating and humming are slow in pace
In this place I feel a sickness brewing
Infecting the dying and pale sound, humming to me now
It's failing rhythm barely supports itself
I could tell I was it's last audience

It may have been the fragile, somber calling that brought me here
But it was the orchestra's surprisingly uplifting optimism
I could hear floating around the edges of this astonishing place
That holds me here

The chiming that once filled this withering and tainted place
Had faded to nothing more then a warm memory

The deep bellowing stamping out the beauty in this majestic place
Is frantically vibrating everything around me now
Drowning out the only light that remembered to shine in this gloomy place

All that remains is the dwindling song that lured me to this breathtaking experience
And the thumping disease killing it.
